The Catfish Statue and Lute Pieces

Catfish statue located between the Railway Station, Mosque, Bekasi District General Hospital and the police station. catfish statue is actually shaped like a catfish and lute pieces, but more commonly known as the Statue of catfish. The statue was built in the tenure of Regents Moch. Djamhari around 1995. Be Sculpture catfish and lute pieces to decorate the city for seven years. But some people, especially joining the General Council Kinship Bekasi (BKMB) and one of its chairman is Muchtadi Mochtar, feel Statue catfish and lute pieces do not represent the people of Bekasi. According to them the statue catfish is not a good symbol because catfish are animals 'hungry and ate everything' that is nearby , the price is cheap. Essentially catfish and lute pieces does not reflect the Bekasi. Catfish statue and lute pieces rejected by society.

BKMB protest filed by the Board to Mr. Moch. Djamhari, Regent of Bekasi, but not addressed, eventually protest addressed to Mr Nonon Sonthani, Mayor of Bekasi. dropped decree dated February 25, 2001, that the statue catfish was dismantled. Although there are demolition orders, the statue was dismantled. BKBM a caretaker named Damin Sada and while it still existed as a village chief Sri Jaya, Tambun district had other ideas. Bekasi with communities who can not wait for catfish statue was dismantled on Thursday, April 24, 2002, Damin Sada came to the Statue of Catfish After the ceremony at the Sports Stadium Bekasi and burn it. catfish statue has now been replaced with a big clock.

The Daendels Road

The Great Post Road is the road stretched from west to east at northern part of Java from Anyer to Panarukan along 1,000 km. Initiated by Governor-General Herman Willem Daendels, this road is passing through Serang, Tangerang, Jakarta, Bogor, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Bandung, Sumedang, Cirebon, Brebes, Tegal, Pemalang, Pekalongan, Kendal, Semarang, Denak, Kudus, Rembang, Tuban, Gresik, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, Probolinggo and Situbondo.

Daendels was a marshal appointed as governor general of East Indies by Lodewijk Napoleon who ruling Holland at that time. The ultimate aim was handling military preparation in anticipating British navy attack that had blockaded Java Island. Daendels's most important military project in defending Java from British attack was constructing a highway connecting west and east corner of this island. The road was built by means of obliging indigenous rulers to mobilize people along the route to work it by force. This road had sacrificed thousands life in nearly a year of its building process. Later, the road was renowned as the Great Post Road (De Goote Postweg) since Daendels also set off post and telegraph services at the moment of the making.

The History Of The Name Jakarta

Jakarta was originally known as a small port at the mouth of the Ciliwung River about 500 years ago. For centuries, the city has grown into a bustling center of international trade. History of Jakarta known through inscriptions such as Tarumanegara royal property, and the kingdom of Sriwijaya Sunda.

The Portuguese are a great group of Europeans first came to Bandar Kalapa. then the city was attacked by Fatahillah, from a kingdom which is not far from the Kalapa. Then Fatahillah change the name to Jayakarta Sunda Kalapa on June 22, 1527. Date is defined as the day of birth of Jakarta. Late 16th-century Dutch people then came and then the master Jayakarta. Dated May 30, 1619 brought the leadership of JP Coen Dutch managed to seize and occupy Jayakarta once changed his name to Batavia – taken from the name of the Celtic tribes who once lived in the Netherlands at the time of the Romans. Governmental activities centered in a field which is located approximately 500 meters from the port. Then the Dutch built town hall, which is the position of the center of the city government of Batavia. Increasingly rapid growth impact on the environment easily damaged, so the Dutch authorities to move the center of government higher lying areas. The area was then called Weltevreden. During the Japanese occupation (1942-1945), the name changed again to Jakarta Batavia. In 1966, Jakarta Capital gain official name of the Republic of Indonesia.
